K9 Spam-Filtering Software

Some weeks ago, after once again discarding a useless piece of Spam-Filtering software for Outlook I found and article about K9 in a local newspaper online. After having used it for about two weeks I am ready to say that K9 is the best spam-filtering software I have seen for the Windows platform.

K9 is effectively a POP3-proxy, and is thus also compatible with all the ususal e-mail applications. Being a stand-alone application it also does not mess up with Outlook as many poorly programmed plug-ins tend to do. K9 supports multiple (as many as you want) separate POP3 servers (using a special username convention). K9 only tags spam, so one has to do the filtering directly in Outlook (pretty much the same one would do if one had e.g. SpamAssassin installed server-side).

Currently the accuracy for my account is 97.9%, which is pretty decent. All-in-all a wonderful tool! Go fetch!
